EXTRAORDINARY
ABOUT
Norwegian artist, songwriter and producer MaVe, alias Marita Vestad, makes dramatic music, ranging from elegantly produced ballads with quirky twists to heavy compositions with raw attitude. With a distinctive voice in productions that experiment with soundscapes alternating between electronic and organic, MaVe offers a personal touch with deeply revealing lyrics about intense emotions. Her songs are straightforward and honest, perhaps best demonstrated by the title of her 2023 debut album "Crap I shouldn’t say out loud and shitloads of ballads", which she wrote, recorded, played and produced herself. The album garnered significant attention for MaVe in the Norwegian music scene, with placements in numerous editorial playlists, radio rotation, and strong reviews from outlets such as VG and P3, marking her as an artist to watch. Her music has also been featured in TV series like ‘Jævla Homo’ and seasons 1 and 2 of ‘Lovleg’ (NRK).” In June, she released the single ‘Extraordinary’ with an accompanying visualizer; a mix of eclectic beats, confident vibes, and addictive synth lines. A catchy pop song that also experiments with genre boundaries. The track has been featured on blogs such as Indie Boulevard, The Good Stuff In Between, BALLADE: Week’s Music Videos. In October and November she continued with “WEAK” and "Tolerate". Both singles landed several playlist placements across the streaming platforms such as NMF Norway, NMF Denmark, New Music Discovery by THE LINE OF BEST FIT and Apple’s New Music Daily. The three singles is now announced as part of her 2nd album releasing in 2025. Press: Indie Boulevard - “Extraordinary” Oslo’s music scene is buzzing with the arrival of MaVe, a compelling artist who transcends the typical pop persona. Eschewing industry norms, MaVe crafts music that is unflinchingly honest. Her sound resonates with a raw authenticity, akin to a shot of espresso – a jolt of energy that lingers long after the last note fades. The good stuff in between - “Extraordinary” Oslo based songwriter and producer MaVe is back with a new track and shift in sound with the dance based floor thumper Extraordinary. -Shaun Milne Radio P3- Best right now - “Daydreamer” If you mix Emilie Nicolas, Sia and early Lorde you get «Daydreamer». This is a mix I really like. MaVe has a raw attitude. The vocals are rough and drags you in right away. Give the album the love it deserves. There’s really some proper soulful songs here. -Erlend Arnesen (journalist P3) VG (Norwegian national newspaper) “This weeks songs - “Crap I Shouldn’t Say Out Loud” Oslo-based MaVe’s songs has a soft undertone in a minimalistic intense production. It is her vocals that make this smart work of a song stand out in the crowd of newly released music. And makes her an artist worth watching. - Tor Martin Bøe (VG) NPS - This weeks album MaVe is pouring her soul out in a very personal and transparent way in her first album. The album includes a number of beautiful, dark and soulful songs and she pulls us in to her emotional chaos in a beautiful, peculiar and genuine way. -NPS editors
